Taking Action to Achieve Your Goals

Just about all books and public speakers who address the subject of the power of our thoughts will almost always talk about the importance of taking action.  Very few will claim that controlling thoughts in your mind, focusing on the goal, and other mental functions are the total answer.  If you are serious about achieving a goal, you must begin on the track that will get you there.  However, there are three factors in your path to a goal that not too many people talk about.

Yes, it is important to formulate a personal growth plan, but it’s even more important not to fall in love with the plans!  Remember, your objectpersonal growth areas is the goal – not the route to get you there.  Plan and get started.  But unless your goal is as simple as getting a strawberry sundae at the local ice cream shop, you will likely run into some unexpected detours.  Achieving any worthwhile goal will require you to learn something – probably several things. Whether it’s achieving career goals or self-improvement goals, expect your plans to need adjustments.  There’s a great saying – “If you want to make God laugh – tell Him your plans.”

Secondly, don’t get discouraged if you can’t figure out all the steps to get you where you want to go.  Too many people never get started because they can’t see how they will ever be able to achieve what they want.  Every journey begins with the first step.  Just get started.  You’ll figure it out.

Finally, if your goal is truly heartfelt, trust it will be yours. Your knowing (not just belief) empowers your mind to keep you focused. It will be there if you can already see the object of your dreams in your life.
